Mobile Webcam
- Mail Edition!

Mobile Webcam is one of the first worldwide webcams for cellphones. It is a great tool for taking pictures with your cellphone automatically in certain time intervalls. With this Mail Edition you can upload your photos to the internet just by ordinary e-mails! Mobile Webcam is fully compatible with free photo communities like Flickr.com which allow upload by mail. Publish your webcam impressions instantly to the whole wide world! Also it is possible to save each picture in your local phone storage. To start your webcam just click 'Activate'-softkey. If you want to stop, click 'Deactivate' and your timer will be reset as well as your limit settings. It is important to turn off any screensavers running on your phone because this might put Mobile Webcam into standby mode.

Before using Mobile Webcam please adjust your MIDlet / Java security settings in your phone to reduce permission prompts during usage or ask your phone retailer how to adjust them.

Webcam Settings (Options):
Use this menu to adjust snapshot size. If your phone does not accept selected size it will use default settings. Please be careful with changing size as it may affect your phones heap memory. The higher the image size the more heap space must be available in your phone. For older phones 160x120 pixel resolution is a good value to start with. If possible, use JPEG image type instead of PNG to achieve better compression. Be aware that some phones might use proprietary JPEG compression which might not be viewable on other computers so in that case PNG could be the better choice. If you want to auto-save each webcam snapshot made then click this option, otherwise you can save snapshots manually by going to 'Load/Save Picture' menu. It is possible to save as much pictures as your phone allows it. If you have not enough disk space available in your phone please delete some saved pictures first. Of course you can send pictures to your own e-mail address in order to save them (load a saved picture und then click 'Fire'-Key, shown picture will now be send according to your settings made in 'Upload Settings'.).

Timer Settings (Options):
Here you can determine how often you want to save or upload your cameras input. A faster timer setting means that the countdown value will be lower so that upload/save - frequency will be faster. You can set a limit to avoid too high traffic costs. After taking the selected amount of snapshots Mobile Webcam will be switched to standby mode.

Upload Settings (Options):
You can activate this option by clicking 'Yes' in 'Options' -> 'Upload Settings' menu. If you want to deactivate this option then click 'No'. To use this service, you must enter a valid e-mail adress on next screen. After that Mobile Webcam wants to establish a connection to a mail-server. If anything went alright, you will get a status message. Now start your webcam. Each time your timer countdown ist down to zero your software will send out an e-mail with attached actual snapshot (until set limit is reached). The upload size of e-mails will depend on your camera resolution (see 'Webcam Settings'). Some phones might not be able to upload large pictures due to traffic limits. Please ask your phone retailer about details on traffic limits and how to enhance them. Please note: Sending e-mails will cause traffic cost charged by your operator! Ask your operator for more information. Make sure you have the right GPRS or UMTS settings. After mail upload is successful Mobile Webcam will be again activated automatically to trigger next snapshots.
